Filipinos in Europe to initiate weekly noise barrage vs. Covid-19

Progressive organizations of Filipinos in Europe will initiate a simultaneous weekly protest noise barrage starting Saturday, April 4, at 12 noon, which will also be synchronized with the noise barrage in the Philippines every 6pm.

Bantay Covid-19 Europe, which is leading the protest noise barrage, will call on everyone to fight Covid-19, and will call on the Duterte government to focus on services instead of imposing more repressive measures that are causing more hunger and suffering among the people, instead of preventing the spread of the virus.

The protest noise barrage will be piloted in Italy, Spain, the UK and France, where there is a big concentration of migrant Filipinos mostly working in households, health and services sectors, according to Bantay Covid-19 Europe which is composed of Anakbayan Europe, Migrante Europe, European Network for Justice and Peace in the Philippines, and the International Coalition for Human Rights in the Philippines Europe (ICHRP).

The noise barrage will replicate the regular noise barrage in several Italian and Spanish communities at 8pm where households shout and make noise outside their windows to show solidarity with the health frontliners in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

Bantay Covid-19 Europe is also calling on other Filipinos in Europe to join the noise barrage per household in a show of unity and solidarity, not only with compatriots in the Philippines, but also with the people in Europe wrestling against the pandemic, and call on European governments to do more to save lives. (Pinoy Abrod)#
